On 11th November 2021, the School of Food Studies and Gastronomy (SFSG) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Bachelor of Science (Hons) (Culinology®) programme. More than 120 participants involving the American Research Chefs Association (RCA), Malaysia Institute of Food Technology (MIFT), industry partners, alumni, academics and Culinology® students attended this celebration.
We were honoured and delighted by the presence of Prof. Dr. Pradeep Nair, Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Chief Academic Officer, Taylor's University who gave the opening remarks followed by Prof. Dr. Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan, Executive Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences & Leisure Management, and Chef Jaime Mestan, President of RCA shared the important milestones and future strategies of Taylor’s Culinology® programme becoming the leader and hub for Asian Food product Development & Innovation. One of the 10th Anniversary celebration was the showcase of 2020 and 2021 RCA Culinology® Student competition winning "plant-based products".
The events highlight was the Taylor’s Culinology® 10th Anniversary Charity Auction which raised a total of RM4,500 in funds. All donations were channeled to NGO food bank, Malaysia Food Aid Foundation. The 10th year anniversary celebration provided an excellent platform to showcase the positive role played by the Bachelor of Sciences (Hons) (Culinology®) programme at the local and international food product development industry and in producing future-proof graduates to serve this industry.
