We are thrilled to announce the triumphant conclusion of the first ever Malaysian Institute of Food Technology (MIFT) Food Analyst Symposium 2024 hosted by Taylor's University's School of Food Studies and Gastronomy, in collaboration with the Food Safety & Quality Division (FSQD), Ministry of Health of Malaysia and the International Food Safety Training Centre (IFSTC). The symposium was a resounding success, bringing together about 120 delegates in attendance, marking a significant achievement in fostering knowledge and collaboration within the food industry, proved to be a seamless and engaging experience for all involved.
The Malaysian Institute of Food Technology (MIFT) is a non-profit professional body of food technologists and educators in the field of food science and technology, and other individuals involved in areas of work closely related to food technology.
The event schedule proceeded as planned and included nine insightful talks and a dynamic mini-forum that sparked engaging discussions with the distinguished panelists on the theme of "Learning, Testing, Transforming: The Food Analyst's Odyssey." The topics included the updates on Food Analyst Act and related regulations, challenges and opportunities for food analysts in the 21st century, career discussions for food analysts, the latest research, science, and technological advances in food analysis, and a multi-group panel discussion on the future of food analysts.
The symposium also showcased effective booth engagement and cutting-edge communication technology, which was well-received by sponsors such as Premier Diagnostics Sdn Bhd, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Merck Group, Medklinn International, Everlife-Chemopharm Group, Empire Bioscience Sdn Bhd, Perfect Laboratory (M) Sdn Bhd, and Everest 23 Professional Solutions Sdn. Delegates from three countries and 61 organizations including the spanning food manufacturing, government bodies, private labs, and academia, actively participated, highlighting the symposium's significance as a collaborative knowledge exchange platform. The success of the symposium reflected meticulous planning and execution by the organizing team and Taylor's Culinology students who contributed their time and efforts on the event day as helper and ushers. The first MIFT Food Analyst Symposium was more than an event, it celebrated the food analyst community, fostering networking and knowledge-sharing.
